This October will be a big time for Delhi, for its residents and officials of the Sports Authority of India, as the capital gears up to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Up until this point, it seems that there have been various organisational headaches for everyone, including effects of a city-wide beautification drive, meaning large piles of rubble have sprung up over the city whilst the building work is taking place.
However, newspapers have recently reported another issue that is affecting residents- most of the 220 halls owned and maintained by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been earmarked for use by paramilitary forces, meaning that many of the city’s wedding venues are now out of bounds to the public. Being perpetually in demand for Indian weddings, traditionally crowded and extravagant affairs, many couples have apparently had their big days cancelled because of the games, a statement which the MCD are denying, saying instead that only five couples have had to rearrange a date.
Will your big day clash with the Commonwealth Games, or have you already had to deviate from your original plan? Whatever your story, our wedding wish lanterns will arrive on time, whenever you’re to be married, and can help to add even more magic and sparkle to such as happy occasion.
