A treat from Wedding Wish Lanterns

However you’re celebrating your special day, whether it be by relaxing on a tropical beach with friends and family, holding a huge banquet in a majestic hall, or dancing the night away, one thing’s for certain: no wedding is complete without delicious sweet treats to offer your guests. We’ve recently heard reports of high tea wedding receptions becoming more popular, with the happy couple serving cakes and Earl Grey to their guests. With this in mind, we at Wedding Wish Lanterns have got a surprise for you: our very own scone recipe that (almost) guarantees success every time. So get that oven fired up, and try our super spongy goods. This recipe makes about 8-10 scones, so you can test them before you make a big batch!

You’ll need: 225g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
15g caster sugar
5g sultanas
150ml milk
Icing sugar to dust

Preheat the oven to 220°C. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together. Rub in the butter with the tips of your fingers, until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and sultanas, and enough milk to make a soft dough.
Divide the mixture into scones, place on a baking tray, and brush the tops of the scones with milk.
Bake until risen and golden.
